Binh Duong welcomes Japanese businesses to hi-tech projects

Japan ranks 2nd among 64 countries and territories investing in Vietnam’s southern province of Binh Duong, with nearly 300 projects worth some USD5.1 billion.

The information was announced during a meeting of Hideyuki Okada, President of the Japanese Businesses’ Association in Ho Chi Minh city (JBAH), with Binh Duong’s leaders on May 22nd.  

According to Mr. Hideyuki Okada, JBAH has 1,020 businesses working in 13 industries, including the largest group of 140 businesses doing business in Binh Duong.

“Japanese businesses appreciate the investment environment in the province, saying that the provincial authority has made great efforts to improve the business environment, making it an attractive destination for other Japanese businesses in production, service and urban development sectors,” he said.

At the meeting, Dang Minh Hung, Deputy Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said that the province and JBAH had set up effective cooperation and support, contributing to the development of the businesses and of the locality. He also expressed his hope that JBAH would introduce the Binh Duong investment environment to other Japanese businesses working in different areas, especially in production applying high technology.

Statistics from the provincial Department of Planning and Investment show that Binh Duong ranks 3rd in the country in foreign investment attraction, with 3,585 valid projects and with registration capital of USD33.08 billion. Of which, 2,223 projects worth USD21.3 billion invest in industrial zones, accounting for 65.7% of the whole province’s FDI capital./.
