According to Mr. Canh, with a 192 kilometre coastline and favourable national conditions, including the famous Mui Ne Beach, Binh Thuan advocates promoting resort and sports tourism. Notably, in 2018, the number of Russian tourists to Binh Thuan reached 600,000, accounting for 25% of the total number of international arrivals. Moreover, the province expects to construct an international airport capable of welcoming 2 million passengers each year in late 2019, which will make favourable conditions for Binh Thuan and Kaluga to boost bilateral tourism cooperation.

He added that Binh Thuan is strong in dragon fruits and fisheries products which have been exported to 15 countries and territories worldwide such as the Republic of Korea, Japan and the European Union. However, its exports to Russia in general and Kaluga in particular remain modest. “With Binh Thuan delegation’s visit to Kaluga, we hope to create a breakthrough in bilateral cooperation between the two localities,” he said.

Governor Anatoly Artamonov said that in 2018, two-way trade between Kaluga and Vietnamese localities increased by 4 times, bringing Vietnam at the 20th among the 120 countries investing in the province, adding that the province’s authorities ensured the best preferential conditions for investors, especially for projects carried out at the Kaluga special economic zone and special socio-economic development territories.

Appreciating Kaluga province’s potential, Mr. Canh suggested strengthening bilateral links across trade, export, tourism; processing of farm produce, aquatic products and poultry meat; education and training; and use of technology in light industry, health care and processing.

At the end of the meeting, Mr. Canh presented the draft cooperation agreement between Binh Thuan and Kaluga to the Governor./.
