The opening of the bilateral border gate is an important milestone confirming the development of the cooperative relationship between Lang Son province and China’s Zhuang Autonomous Region in particular, and between Vietnam and China in general, especially in trade, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.

Over the past years, the friendly and cooperative relationship between Vietnam’s Lang Son and China’s Guangxi provinces has been promoted. Each year, Lang Son province attracts some 3,000 Vietnamese businesses joining import-export activities with the total turnover of over USD8 billion, according to Vice Chairman of the Lang Son provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Cong Truong.

Mr. Truong suggested Vietnamese and Chinese businesses to take this advantage to increase cooperation.

He also urged the two sides’ authorized agencies to efficiently operate the border gates, making best conditions for organizations and individuals to conduct import-export, immigration and investment activities, and promoting border economic development.

Meanwhile, Zun Da Wei, Deputy Secretary of the Guangxi Party Committee, confirmed that Vietnam is the province’s biggest partner, with two-way trade turnover accounting for over 30% of the two countries’ trade turnover.

Chi Ma border gate has been a place for China’s and Vietnam’s export goods go to each others over the past 100 years.

“We will promote the authority of the border gate so that it becomes a main trade border gate linking the two countries and localities,” he asserted./.
