According to Chairman Thong, Can Tho city is a key agricultural production locality in the Mekong River Delta, with its agricultural products appreciated for both quantity and quality. “However, difficulties remain in technologies for production, preservation and processing of products,” he said.

He urged the Indian General Consul to Ho Chi Minh city to encourage Indian businesses working in hi-tech agricultural production, preservation and processing of agricultural products, and biotechnology in seedling production, to study investment opportunities in Can Tho city.

Appreciating the development of Can Tho city over the past years, Mr. Srikar Reddy said that India wanted to cooperate with the city not only in hi-tech agricultural production, but also in training hi-quality human resources working in the technological environment.

Recently, India has trained eight lecturers from the Can Tho University of Technology (CTUT), said the Indian General Consul to Ho Chi Minh city, adding he hoped that more and more Can Tho city students would choose India for their study.

He pledged to encourage Indian businesses to invest in Can Tho city, contributing to deepening the India - Vietnam relationship.

According to the Can Tho city Department of Foreign Affairs, as of October, Can Tho city exported its key products, including fisheries, textile and garment, and agricultural products, worth USD1.5 million, to India./.
