During his official visit to Czech from April 16th-18th, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his Czech counterpart Andrej Babis agreed to boost bilateral cooperation in diverse areas, including education and training, labour, agriculture, science technology, environment, culture and tourism. The two sides reached a consensus on effectively implementing the mechanism of the Vietnam – Czech Inter-governmental Committee on economic cooperation, encouraging the two countries’ businesses to increase cooperation.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Minister of Labour, War-Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung directly discussed an increase in labour cooperation between the two countries and received Prime Minister Andrej Babis’s agreement that Vietnamese citizens will continue to be granted long-term visas for working and doing business in Czech.

Prime Minister Andrej Babis stressed that Czech is a close friend of Vietnam. “Being an active EU member, Czech supports an increase in the relationship between Vietnam and the EU, especially its promotion of early signing of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and the EU- Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA).

It is estimated that Czech lacks some 200,000 labourers and can receive up to 600,000 labourers in the future. The re-granting of visa for Vietnamese citizens is expected to provide opportunities for a large number of Vietnamese labourers to work in Czech./.
