The Da Nang city Department of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the city Department of Culture and Sports on October 4th introduced the book “From Enemies to Partners: Vietnam, US and Agent Orange”.

The book was written by Charles Bailey, the former US Ford Foundation representative in Vietnam; and Le Ke Son, Vice Head of the Vietnam Environment Administration at the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, and Head of Office of the National Steering Committee for the Overcoming of the Consequences of Toxic Chemicals used by US in the War in Vietnam.

Going through long-term studies, the book highlights the process of the two countries surmounting difficulties to cooperate in overcoming the consequences Agent Orange caused to people’s health and the environment.

The book was completed after 4 years efforts by the two authors in studying information and documents on the consequences of Agent Orange in Vietnam, and carrying out some 40 interviews with officials and scientists relating to this area.

The English version was published by G. Anton Publishing in April, while the Vietnamese version was published by the The Gioi Publishers in August./.
