So said Pham Duc Hai, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh city Peope’s Council, during his reception for Deputy Secretary-General of the National Assembly of RoK Kim Soo Heung, on July 10th.

According to Mr. Hai, Ho Chi Minh city has set up cooperative relations with 7 Korean localities while the city People’s Council alone has established the relations with Incheon and Busan cities, which facilitates regular exchanges of delegations and cooperative activities in culture, tourism, education – training and healthcare between the Vietnamese city and Korean localities. “As of May, the RoK is the 3rd largest investor in Ho Chi Minh city with over 1,600 projects worth over USD5 billion,” he said.

Adding that as the city always creates favourable conditions for foreign investors, including Korean investors, he hoped Mr. Kim Soo Heung will support by inviting Korean businesses to invest in the city.

Expressing his impression of the city’s economic development, Mr. Kim Soo Heung said that there are currently some 8,000 Korean investors in Vietnam, and over 160,000 Korean people living in Vietnam, with half of whom in Ho Chi Minh city. Meanwhile, each year, 3.6 million Korean visitors come to Vietnam, including 1 million to Ho Chi Minh city.

Asserting that personally he will continue to support Korean businesses to invest in the city, and the Korean National Assembly wants to promote cooperation with the Ho Chi Minh city People’s Council. “Many Korean localities hope to cooperate with Ho Chi Minh city as it is the one with strong economic development,” he added./.
