The order aims to recognise the active contribution of the organization in boosting poverty reduction and socio-economic development, especially in caring for and protecting children.

VUFO Chairman Vu Xuan Hong expressed his gratitude over WVI support for Vietnam’s socio-economic development process over the past three decades, confirming that VUFO would continue to cooperate and make favourable conditions for WVI activities in Vietnam.

Being honoured to receive the order, Kevin Jenkins, WVI President, said that the order was a reflection of the fine relationship between the Vietnamese Government and the WVI over the past many years. He added that he hoped the relationship would be further developed in the future.

WVI, an American non-governmental organization, started its operation in Vietnam in the early 1970s in terms of emergency response and community development. It has been granted a license to establish a representative office for activities in food security, safe water and environmental hygiene, the sustainable reuse of energy, micro finance and economic development, the prevention and mitigation of the consequences of natural disasters as well as emergency response, climate change response, education, development and education of kindergarteners, sponsorship of children, healthcare, the prevention of HIV/AIDS, the prevention of human trafficking, support for disabled people, and gender equality.

Over the past 30 some years, the WVI has mobilised USD300 million for Vietnam.

In particular, it has effectively  carried out 47 regional development programs across the country which have focused on developing agricultural production, education, healthcare, and micro finance; reducing risks caused by natural disasters; and increasing capacity./.
