Hanoi increases tourism cooperation with Slovakia

On March 20th, Standing Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Van Suu received Juraj Droba, President of Slovakia’s Bratislava region, who is on a visit to Vietnam.

During the reception, the two sides discussed potential areas of cooperation between Hanoi and Bratislava, especially in tourism.

According to Juraj Droba, Slovakia as well as Bratislava region, care much about Vietnam’s socio-economic development achievements, thus seeing cooperation potential and bilateral relationship promotion between the two sides.

Therefore, his visit to Hanoi aimed to establish a framework for reinforcing the relationship between the two localities, especially in developing two-way tourism.

He suggested that the two sides should organize programs to exchange pupils and students in accordance with 6-12 month courses, making conditions for citizens of the two sides to experience educational and cultural exchanges.

Agreeing with Mr. Juraj Droba’s proposal, Standing Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Van Suu stressed that in 2017, Slovakian Deputy Prime Minister visited Vietnam and expressed his care about Hanoi. “The visit contributes to expanding cooperation between Vietnamese and Slovakian localities,” he said.

According to Mr. Suu, Hanoi has a population of over 10 million people, living on an area of over 3,000 square kilometers. Adding that Hanoi is undergoing rapid urbanization, it needs to increase cooperation in economics, culture, society, tourism and urban development.

He proposed the signing of a memorandum of understanding as a premise for the strong cooperation in the future.

Confirming that both Vietnam and Slovakia have rich cultural and historic values with high-quality products, he said that the cooperation in tourism between the two sides is essential.

“Apart from tourism, the trade and economics exchanges should also be increased,” he said./.
