Ho Chi Minh City and Busan boost cooperation amid COVID-19 pandemic outbreak

An online meeting between Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong and Acting Mayor of the Republic of Korea's Busan City Byeon Sung Wan was organized on September 10 to discuss ways to share difficulties with foreign enterprises, including Korean businesses amid COVID-19 pandemic outbreak.

Over the past time, Vietnam has always created favorable conditions for foreign businesses, experts and immigrants, including those from the Republic of Korea (RoK) into the country. Moreover, Ho Chi Minh City has established an interdisciplinary team to solve difficulties for experts and businesses in the city.

At the virtual meeting, the Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee hoped that flights between the two countries would be soon resumed.

In addition, he also pledged to participate in an online trade conference between Busan City and ASEAN countries on September 23 to seek business opportunities with other partners.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong said that the 25th anniversary of the friendship cooperation establishment between Ho Chi Minh City and Busan is an opportunity to further promote the relationship development between the two cities as well as the diplomatic relationship between the two countries.

At the meeting, Acting Mayor Byeon Sung Wan said that RoK will be ready to assist Ho Chi Minh City official development assistance (ODA) capital if the city needs. Additionally, the acting mayor hoped that direct air routes between the two cities would be resumed soon.

During the meeting, the two sides also agreed to establish an online work team between the two cities to further promot exchanges, cooperation and investment during the pandemic period./.
