Ho Chi Minh city awarded Lao Order

The Ho Chi Minh city People’s Committee on March 29th held a ceremony to receive the first-class Development Order from Laos, as part of activities to mark the 55th year of Vietnam - Laos diplomatic relations (September 5th) and 40th year of the Vietnam - Laos Friendship and Cooperation Treaty (July 18th).

Addressing the ceremony, Sinlavong Khoutphaythoune, Politburo member of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Vientiane Party Committee and Vientiane Governor, stressed that over the past time, Ho Chi Minh city is Vientiane’s “special of special” twinned locality that has given great support to Vientiane in different areas.

According to Sinlavong Khoutphaythoune, the granting of Laos’ first-class Development Order reflects Ho Chi Minh city’s contributions to the construction and development of Vientiane, especially its support in building the Vientiane - Ho Chi Minh city friendship school using USD5 million. “With assistance from Ho Chi Minh city, the school has become one of the largest and most outstanding schools in Vientiane.”

The Vientiane Governor added that Ho Chi Minh city’s contributions helped reinforce the friendship relation, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the Vietnamese and Lao Parties, States and peoples.

Speaking at the event, Nguyen Thanh Phong, 12th PCC member and Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh city People’s Committee, confirmed that the order marked an important political stamp in the friendship and cooperative relations between the two sides, including Vientiane.

Stressing that the city treasured the order granted by the Lao Government, Chairman Phong asserted that the order recognized the efforts of Ho Chi Minh city in fostering and promoting the Vietnam - Laos relations./.
