Noting that Gyeongsanbuk province’s sending of diverse delegations to Ho Chi Minh city shows its special care for the Vietnamese city, and that the relationship between the two localities is developing well, especially in tourism, he confirmed that Ho Chi Minh city will be ready to take the invitation to attend the world culture festival in Gyeongsanbuk province in October, and that the Vietnamese city hopes to promote cooperation with the Korean locality in investment and trade.

“In the near future when a direct flight between Ho Chi Minh city and Gyeongsanbuk province’s Daegu city opens, the bilateral cooperation will be further developed,” Mr. Phong asserted.

Sharing the socio-economic development situation in Gyeongsangbuk province, Mr. Lee Cheol Woo said that the locality has diverse industrial zones with large businesses, and is famous for tourism. “Gyeongsangbuk province is willing to attend the annual international tourism festival held in Ho Chi Minh city in September,” he said.

He suggested Ho Chi Minh city continue to make favourable conditions for Gyeongsangbuk province’s businesses to invest in the city, thus contributing to promoting bilateral relationship.

As of May, the RoK ranked 3rd among over 100 countries and territories investing in Ho Chi Minh city, with 1,600 projects worth USD5 billion. In 2018, the trade turnover between Ho Chi Minh city and the RoK reached USD4.7 billion. In particular, 934,000 Korean came to Ho Chi Minh city, making it the countries with the second largest number of tourists to the Vietnamese city last year./.
