So said Nguyen Thien Nhan, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh city Party Committee during his reception for Olga Lodia Tapia Iglesias, Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (CPC) Central Committee, and Head of the CPC Central Committee’s Department of Education, Sports and Science, on October 11th, on her working visit to Vietnam.
Welcoming Ms Olga Lodia Tapia Iglesias and her delegation to Ho Chi Minh city, Mr. Nhan expressed his thanks to Cuban leaders for sending senior representatives to attend the funerals for Vietnamese State President Tran Dai Quang and former Party General Secretary Do Muoi.
He confirmed that Cuba holds a special place in the hearts and minds of Vietnamese people, and that the Vietnamese people always follow and share happiness with the developments in Cuba’s success.
Sharing the city’s socio-economic development over the past time, he appreciated Cuba’s technologies in biochemistry and agricultural production, adding that Ho Chi Minh city and Cuba have a lot of opportunities for cooperating in bio-products to serve agricultural production, farm products processing, and trade for agricultural products.
The Cuban official expressed her impression on Ho Chi Minh city’s dynamic development, asserting that Vietnam and Cuba share a lot of similarities in both opportunities and challenges in political and economic development. “Cuba has learned from Vietnam’s development experiences and will take lessons that are applicable to Cuba’s specific situation,” she said. She also stressed that Cuba will continue to consider Vietnam a promising market and hopes to further promote economic and trade cooperation with Vietnam, including Ho Chi Minh city, and raise the level of development of Cuba - Vietnam economic ties to match the two countries’ fine political relations./.
