The signing of the MoU has raised the number of foreign localities setting up friendly and cooperative relation with Ho Chi Minh city to 48, including 6 from the RoK.

According to Ho Chi Minh city People’s Committee Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong, the establishment of the friendly and cooperative relationship is an important mark and good premise for wide and deep cooperation between the two localities in the future.

On the same day, the closing ceremony of the Ho Chi Minh city–Gyeongju World Culture Expo 2017, a large cultural event marking the 25th year of the Vietnam – RoK diplomatic relationship, co-hosted by Ho Chi Minh city and Gyeongsangbuk-do province, took place after a variety of activities, including cultural and arts, food, cinema and trade promotion events, had been organized.

“The expo helps both promote the Vietnamese and Korean culture, country and people as well as those of other countries all over the world; increase mutual understanding, trust and links for development and prosperity among nations; and prove the dynamic role of Ho Chi Minh city in international cooperation,” said Mr. Phong during the expo closing ceremony.

According to the organising committee, the 23-day expo attracted over 4 million visitors, including some 12,000 Korean visitors./.
