He made the statement during his reception for Chee Hong Tat, Senior Minister of State at Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Education of Singapore, on May 15th.

According to Mr. Liem, Singapore is Ho Chi Minh city’s biggest investor, with more than 1,100 projects worth over USD10 billion. It is also the city’s 2nd largest trade partner for many successive years, with two-way trade reaching USD3.7 billion.

As the Singaporean leader’s visit aimed to promote cooperation in investment, trade, start-up, smart urban area and human resource training in term 2019-2025, Mr. Liem said that the city wanted to learn from the experience of Singapore in building creative urban city. “This will become the location for application of technology in finance, healthcare, agriculture and industry of the nation,” he said, adding that the city also hoped for increasing cooperative activities in start-up.

He also pledged to make favorable conditions for foreign investors, including Singaporean ones, to do effective business in the city.

Expressing his impression of the Vietnamese city’s development, Mr. Chee Hong Tat said that his delegation included Singapore’s leading businesses who want to study the investment environment in Vietnam.

He also confirmed to promote cooperative activities and experience sharing in the building of smart urban area and human resource training between the two sides./.
