Ho Chi Minh city leader receives US Consul General

Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh city Party Committee Tat Thanh Cang on April 19th received Ms Mary Etta Tarnowka, the US Consul General in Ho Chi Minh city.

During the reception, Mr. Cang thanked Ms Mary Etta Tarnowka for promoting the relations between Vietnam, including Ho Chi Minh city, and the US. Ho Chi Minh city has twinned with San Francisco city, while US businesses have invested in healthcare and education in Ho Chi Minh city. “Ho Chi Minh city cares for promoting economic cooperation with the US and makes favourable conditions for US investors,” said Mr. Cang.

He expressed his hope that US businesses would increase investment in Ho Chi Minh city, especially in the development of smart urban area, information and technology, pharmaceutical chemistry industry and human resources training.Looking forward to the cooperation orientation with Ho Chi Minh in the future of the US Consulate General, Mr. Cang said he believed that Ms Mary Etta Tarnowka would carry out diverse activities to promote the cooperation between Ho Chi Minh city and US localities in particular, as well as the cooperation between Vietnam and the US in general.

According to Ms Mary Etta Tarnowka, the US Consulate General will focus its activities on increasing cooperation between US businesses and localities with Ho Chi Minh city, especially in clean energy, aviation technology, smart city, education and healthcare.

She said that US businesses would debut some supermarkets and invest in the production of solar energy in Ho Chi Minh city, adding that US businesses would participate in the program “Meet the USA” to promote investment projects in Ho Chi Minh city and Vietnamese localities.

Confirming that US and Ho Chi Minh city hold diverse cooperation opportunities, Ms Mary Etta Tarnowka stressed that the US always wanted to promote cooperation with Ho Chi Minh city in diverse areas./.
