Ho Chi Minh city, Netherlands cooperate in adapting to climate change

Expressing his pleasure with the strong development in the Vietnam - Netherlands relationship, Mr. Nhan said that the Netherlands is one of Vietnam’s special partners, especially the strategic partnership in climate change, water management, sustainable agriculture and food safety. “In 2018, Ho Chi Minh city is willing to work with the Netherlands in carrying out cooperative activities to mark the 45th anniversary of the diplomatic relationship between the two countries,” he added.

He also suggested the Netherlands accelerate the support for the city in completing flooding prevention projects, and designing components in the project on building the city into a smart city.

Noting that diverse changes have been reported in the relationship between the Netherlands and Vietnam, Ms Sigrig Kaag said she believed that in 2018, the two countries would organize a wide range of cooperative activities to mark the anniversary of the diplomatic relationship.

She confirmed that the Netherlands would be willing to increase cooperation with the city in water management, agriculture and aviation - areas that are the Netherlands’ strengths; and to share experience and technologies in preventing urban flooding.

The Netherlands is currently Vietnam’s largest European trade partner and a leading European investor in the country./.
