Ho Chi Minh city’s leader celebrates Lao traditional New Year Festival

Tran Luu Quang, Party Central Committee member and Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh city Party Committee, on April 9th led a delegation from the city Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Fatherland Front to celebrate Laos’ Bunpimay traditional New Year Festival at the Lao Consulate General in the city.

Expressing his best wishes with deepest brotherhood affection to Lao people, Mr. Luu congratulated Laos on its important achievements in all areas over the past years. “This year, the pleasure doubles as Laos’ traditional festival falls near Vietnam’s Hung Kings Death Anniversary,” he said.
With the significance of Laos’ traditional Bunpimay Festival, or water splash festival in wishing for thriving for living beings as well as the prosperity and happiness for humans, Mr. Luu added he hoped that the festival’s spiritual value would be spread widely and used as a driving force for Lao national development.
He also appreciated the increasingly sustainable cooperation, sincere affection and special care between Vietnam and Laos in general, and between Ho Chi Minh city and Lao localities in particular.
Lao Consul General to Ho Chi Minh city Phimpha Keomixay expressed her thanks to Ho Chi Minh city Party Committee, authority and people for supporting Lao residents and students, confirming that the relationship, unity and friendship between the two countries would be further strengthened.
She also gave an introduction about the significance of the Bunpimay traditional festival in Laos, marking a chance for family fathering and water splashing for luck.
Vietnamese delegates joined the Lao Consulate General staff and Lao students in Ho Chi Minh city in practicing the custom of the country’s traditional New Year Festival./.
