Ho Chi Minh city to expand cooperative relations with Cambodia

Nguyen Thanh Phong, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh city People’s Committee, on October 20th received Var Kim Hong, Senior Minister, Chairman of the Cambodian Border Committee and Chairman of the Cambodia - Vietnam Joint Committee on Land Border Demarcation and Border-marker Planting, who is on a working visit to Vietnam.

During the reception, Chairman Phong congratulated Cambodia on its achievements in national construction and development under the reign of King Norodom Sihamoni and the leadership of the Cambodian National Assembly and the Cambodian Royal Government.

“Over the past time, the good neighbouring relationship, traditional friendship and sustainable and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia, as well as between Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh city and Cambodian localities, have reported new good results, bringing practical interests to the two peoples,” said Chairman Phong.

Congratulating the good results of the meeting between the two Committees on Land Border Demarcation and Border-marker Planting between the two countries, Chairman Phong showed his belief that the efforts and cooperation of the two countries will successfully build up a peaceful, friendly and developing border line.

He stressed that the city authority and people would do their utmost to reinforce and promote the traditional friendship with Cambodia and its ministries and localities, adding that the city would increase cooperation activities with Cambodian localities, especially in tourism, contributing to fostering the good relations between the two countries.

For his part, Senior Minister Var Kim Hong affirmed that the good relationship between the two countries and their localities and peoples, as well as the solidarity and responsibility of the two committees, would bring success in addressing land border demarcation and border-marker planting issues between the two countries.

Expressing his impression on Ho Chi Minh city’s dynamic development and good preservation of traditional beauties, Senior Minister Var Kim Hong said that the Vietnamese city is a destination for tourism and medical treatment for many Cambodians.

“Over the past years, the cooperative relationship between Ho Chi Minh city and Cambodia has been developed, especially the effectively operated Cho Ray - Phnompenh Hospital which has become one of the symbols for the good relationship between Ho Chi Minh city and Cambodian localities in particular, and between Vietnam and Cambodia in general,” he said./.
