Ho Chi Minh city, UK seek increased cooperation

The Vietnam – UK strategic partnership continues to develop in all areas, including in the defence sector, especially since the signing of the memorandum of understanding on defence cooperation between the two countries’ Defence Ministries in 2011.

So said Huynh Cach Mang, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh city People’s Committee, when receiving UK Ambassador to Vietnam Gareth Ward and Colonel Tim Neild, Command of the UK Royal Navy's ship HMS Albion as well as the crew, on September 4th, during its visit to the Vietnamese city from September 3rd-6th.

During the reception, Mr. Mang suggested Ambassador Gareth Ward continue creating favourable conditions for UK businesses to invest in Ho Chi Minh city, especially in environment, culture, education and smart city.

According to Ambassador Gareth Ward, Vietnam and the UK hold great potential in increasing cooperation in all areas, especially in economics, finance, education, healthcare, defence and people-to-people exchanges. He also urged Ho Chi Minh city to facilitate UK businesses’ investment in economics, trade, education and smart city.

Informing about the ship visit, Colonel Tim Neild said it was part of activities of the UK Royal Navy in the Asia – Pacific region. In Ho Chi Minh city, the ship delegation exchanged experience among navy forces, met with the city’s and navy forces’ leaders, contributing to boosting sustainable cooperation between the two countries./.
