During the meeting, Standing Vice Chairman of the city People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem showed his happiness with the strong development of the Vietnam - Hungary traditional relationship, stressing that Vietnamese people always remember the support from Hungary during the struggle for national independence in the past and the current national construction.

“ODA assistance from the Hungarian Government is contributing to boosting scientific and technological development, and raising Vietnamese people’s living quality, especially in technology and healthcare,” said Mr. Liem, adding that educational cooperation is also being implemented efficiently by the two countries.

According to Mr. Liem, over the past years, the relationship between Ho Chi Minh city and Hungary has developed with increased cooperation in healthcare, water management, waste water treatment, culture, tourism, trade and investment promotion.

Agreeing with Mr. Liem, Baloghdi Tibo, Hungarian Consul General to Ho Chi Minh city, stressed that the relationship between Vietnam and Hungary after nearly 70 years of diplomatic relationship is being fostered by developing new cooperative areas, especially in justice, defence and security, trade, investment, petrochemistry, water management, healthcare service and agriculture.

At present, Ho Chi Minh city is carrying out healthcare training programs with Hungary’s large universities, and implementing a memorandum of understanding with a Hungarian partner in turning waste water to power. It is also the place for cultural cooperative programs and linking the two sides’ businesses.

The Vietnamese city and Hungary’s capital Budapest signed an agreement on setting up cooperative and friendly relationship in 2015, encouraging the current implementation of specific cooperative programs in healthcare, classical music and the management of water supply and sewerage systems./.
