Increasing cooperation between Hanoi and German localities

German Ambassador to Vietnam Christian Berger has said German businesses care about increasing cooperation with Hanoi, especially in the improvement of the quality of river and lake water, water supply and sewerage, traffic and transport.

He made the statement while being received by Nguyen Duc Chung, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, on July 10th when he said farewell at the end of his working term in Vietnam.

Expressing his gratitude for Hanoi assistance in cooperative activities, especially exchanges among youngsters, Ambassador Christian Berger said he hoped these activities will continue, thus leaving good marks for bilateral relationship.

He also appreciated Hanoi efforts in planting more trees and beautifying the streets, which he said creates a modern and advanced face for the Vietnamese capital city.

During the reception, Mr. Chung spoke highly of Ambassador Christian Berger’s efforts in making contribution to boosting the Vietnam – Germany strategic partnership, notably his introduction of German culture in Hanoi and Vietnam, which he said left a deep impression on the people.

He also expressed his thanks to the German Ambassador for making favourable conditions for Hanoi to link with German states and cities as well as the German business community, in the context after the signing of the European Union Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), helping boost trade cooperation between Vietnam and German.

He also urged the German Ambassador, in his new position, to continue to be an effective bridge for the bilateral cooperation./.
