Insignia presented to Korean General Consul

The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) on August 16th held a ceremony to present an insignia on peace and friendship to the Envoy and General Consul of the Republic of Korea (RoK) to Vietnam Park Sang Shik.

The ceremony aimed to honour his contributions in reinforcing and increasing mutual understanding, and the friendly and cooperative relationship between the Vietnamese and Korean peoples, as well as the strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.

Addressing the ceremony, Don Tuan Phong, VUFO Secretary-General and Vice President, said that during his 3-year working term, Korean General Consul to Vietnam Park Sang Shik had actively worked with Vietnamese agencies, localities and partners to seek cooperation opportunities, in order to promote the program on licensing Vietnamese labourers to work in the RoK; and increase cooperation in different areas, including culture, tourism, music and film.

“He has also made efforts to promote people-to-people diplomacy by supporting Korean and Vietnamese localities in increasing cooperation, calling on Korean businesses to invest in Vietnam, educating Korean students about the Vietnam - RoK relationship, and encouraging the Korean community to carry out humanitarian activities for residents in disadvantaged regions,” said Mr. Phong.

The insignia was presented during the 25th anniversary of the Vietnam - RoK diplomatic relationship (1992-2017).

Korean Envoy and General Consul Park Sang Shik said he was honoured to receive the insignia, adding that he was impressed by the Vietnamese people and country during his working term.

He pledged to continue to promote solidarity and friendship between the Vietnamese and Korean peoples, and the cooperation between the two countries./.
