During the meeting, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung noted that Japan is Vietnam’s second largest direct investor, fourth largest trading partner, and third largest tourism partner, with hundreds of flights per week. He expressed his expectation that the Vietnamese Ambassador and representative offices would strengthen exchanges with Hung Yen and Japanese organizations in all fields. Currently, there are 70 pairs of localities of the two countries signing cooperation deals. On average, each year, 10 delegations of leaders from Japanese localities come to Vietnam to explore investment opportunities.
He highly appreciated the potentials and strengths of Hung Yen province, especially the traffic system bordering Hanoi, the Noi Bai International Airport, Hai Phong and Cai Lan ports, and the Hanoi - Hai Phong national road, with high quality human resources.
According to Chairman of the Hung Yen provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Phong, Japan is the largest foreign investor in Hung Yen with 166 projects worth a total capital of over USD3 billion, creating high trust in cooperation for development between Hung Yen province and Japanese businesses and localities, and contributing to enhancing the comprehensive cooperation relationship between Vietnam and Japan.
He noted that the long-term cooperation relationship and strong political trust between Vietnam and Japan, together with Hung Yen’s policies on promoting investment attraction, would be the basis for many Japanese enterprises to continue to come to Hung Yen for equal investment cooperation and mutual benefit.
Mr. Yamada Takio, Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam, said that Hung Yen is a province with a prime location to build factories. “Not only large Japanese enterprises such as Panasonic, Toto and Daikin, but also many Japanese small and medium enterprises have also invested in Hung Yen,” he added.
He noted that Japanese enterprises investing in industrial parks are very satisfied with the province’s favourable conditions for effective operations of businesses. “Many businesses intend to expand production in the province,” he said.
On the same day, the delegation visited the Thang Long Industrial Park 2 and made a survey at Panasonic and Toto Companies./.
