Japanese businesses seek investment opportunities in Da Nang city

Japanese Oita prefecture’s businesses care for the ability in the provision and shipping of goods by waterways from Vietnam’s Da Nang city to Japan’s Yokohama and Kobe ports, especially the development of logistics services after Lien Chieu port’s construction is completed.

On October 17th, Ho Ky Minh, Deputy Chairman of the Da Nang city People’s Committee, received the delegation from Japan’s Oita Prefecture Foreign Trade Association led by Hikita Chiaki, President of the Tsurusaki Maritime Shipping Company.

According to Japanese businesses’ representatives, Da Nang city is an attractive market for Japan because of its plentiful and remarkably improved human resources. Japanese businesses appreciated the potential of the city’s economic development, and hoped to cooperate with its businesses.

During the reception, Japanese businesses expressed the desire to expand investment and conduct business cooperation in Da Nang city, saying that they cared about the opening of direct flights from Da Nang to Japanese localities in the near future.

They added that Oita prefecture’s businesses are strong in industrial and agricultural products and high quality tourism services, and that their visit to Da Nang aimed to seek long-term cooperation with the city’s businesses, establishing a supply chain for manufacturing.

Speaking highly of the important role of Japanese businesses in promoting the two sides’ relationship, Mr. Minh confirmed that Da Nang city committed to create the best business environment for the businesses to expand investment and set up links with the city’s businesses, especially in biotechnology, nanotechnology, education and training.

Oita is located on the northeastern coast of Kyushu island, with a GDP of about USD40 billion in 2015, goods production value of USD30 billion and trade turnover of USD22 billion in 2016. It is strong in agricultural, forestry and fisheries production, and famous for its resort tourism and mineral springs. It is also home to many suppliers of agricultural and fisheries products, and the food processing industry./.
