National External Information Service Awards 2019 launched

(CPV) - The Steering Committee on External Information Work, the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Popularization and Education and the Vietnam Television (VTV) organized a press conference on November 27th to announce the National External Information Service Awards 2019.

The Awards continue to recognize and honor outstanding authors, press works, and books in the external information sector.

According to Mr. Bui Truong Giang, Deputy Head of the PCC’s Commission for Popularization and Education and Deputy Head of the Steering Committee, in 2019, Vietnam attained many important and comprehensive achievements in socio-economic development, ensured national defence and security, and strengthened foreign relations and comprehensive integration.

Vietnam’s cooperation with neighboring and regional countries, world powers, important partners, and traditional friends continued to be enhanced, in-depth, effective and practical.

The country has made positive and internationally recognized contributions to multilateral foreign mechanisms and activities; such as participating in UN’s peacekeeping missions, deploying level-2 field hospitals to the UN peacekeeping mission in South Sudan, successfully hosting the 2nd US-Republic of Korea summit, being elected non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2020-2021 term with approval from 192 out of 193 voting countries and territories, and taking over ASEAN Chairmanship for 2020.

According to the awards criteria, submissions can be in any language and must be published in the forms of an article of printed newspaper, online newspaper and website (licensed by competent agencies), radio broadcast, television broadcast, press photo, landscape photo, or book.

They must have been broadcast via licensed mass media in Vietnam or in a foreign country from January 1st to December 31st, 2019. The awards will be announced and presented in June 2020.

Entries must be sent to the Standing Agency of the National External Information Service Awards 2019 before March 31st, 2020.

In 2018, the organizers awarded 90 awards, giving 8 first prizes, 17 second prizes, 25 third prizes, and 40 consolation prizes.

After 5 years, the Awards have increasingly drawn the attention and encouraged the participation of many journalists from both domestic and international publications.

Besides, they contribute to promoting the political, diplomatic, economic, cultural and social achievements of the country and introduce Vietnam as a dynamic, proactive country actively integrating into the international community where it is a responsible member./.
