Number of Vietnamese laborers to Russia to be increased

The second round of negotiations on an agreement to attract and recruit Vietnamese laborers to Russia between the Vietnamese and Russian Governments was held recently.

The Vietnamese delegation was led by Doan Mau Diep, Deputy Minister of Labor, War-Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA), while the Russian delegation was led by Mikhail Kirsanov, Director of the Employment Department of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.

The second round of negotiations was carried out on the basis of the draft agreement which had been discussed and unified at the first round in Hanoi on February 19th-21st.

The two sides expressed their belief that the agreement would become an important legal tool in adjusting labourer immigration and better protecting Vietnamese labourers’ rights in the Federation of Russia.

At the end of the negotiation, the two sides reached a consensus about the whole contents of the agreement and will prepare for the signing of the agreement.

Russia is in need of foreign labourers. With the Vietnam - Russia traditional friendship and the positively developed comprehensive partnership, the Russian side is expected to receive some 15,000-20,000 Vietnamese laborers each year.

So far, Vietnam is the second country Russia has proposed negotiation in recruiting organized laborers./.
