Prime Minister receives Japanese prefecture governor

Paying an official visit to Japan and attending the 23rd International Conference on the Future of Asia, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on June 4th received Masaru Hashimoto, Governor of Ibaraki prefecture that is near Tokyo and has strength in industrial and modern agricultural production.

During the reception, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc confirmed that the Government of Vietnam attaches great importance to boosting cooperation among Vietnamese and Japanese localities, including Ibaraki prefecture, considering it an important factor in further promoting the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries.

He suggested that Ibaraki should promote its great potentials, including in agriculture, science and technology, and education, to encourage its businesses to invest in Vietnam, thus sharing experience, transferring hi-tech in agricultural production, and assisting Vietnam with industrializing and modernizing the agricultural sector. The Vietnamese Prime Minister expressed his hope that Ibaraki prefecture would receive a greater number of Vietnamese laborers and help Vietnam train human resources; and work with Vietnamese localities to celebrate the 45th year since the establishment of Vietnam - Japan diplomatic relations and the 50th year since the establishment of Ibaraki prefecture’s Japan - Vietnam Friendship Association, in 2018.

Governor Masaru Hashimoto gave a general introduction about the prefecture’s strengths, including education and the development of hi-tech agricultural production.

He stressed that the prefecture’s leaders and entrepreneurs hoped to accelerate investment and multilateral cooperation with Vietnamese localities.

On the same day, PM Phuc received Tadash Maeda, Executive Managing Director of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), and President of the Security Committee of the Japanese House of Commons Tsuyoshi Yaguchi./.
