Promoting Hanoi - Japan cooperation

Talking with Hanoimoi newspaper about the conference, Mr Nguyen Gia Phuong - Director of the Hanoi Promotion Agency, said that Japan is a leading investor in Hanoi with over USD10.6 billion. The investment cooperation between Hanoi and Japan is being expanded in many areas, while projects capitalized by Japan have made important contributions to the city’s development.

According to him, during the conference, some Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation will be inked, focusing on such areas as hi-tech industry and agriculture, urban railway, development of human resources, tourism, high quality healthcare and trade.

To prepare for the conference, Mr. Phuong said that Hanoi had worked with related agencies to link businesses attending the conference, in order to help businesses working in investment and tourism have better understanding about Japan and Hanoi market demand. “Japanese businesses’ cooperation demand and proposals have also been collected to be addressed,” he added.

Talking about the Japan Cherry Blossom Festival, he said that the 2019 festival will come back after many successful ones, including a space of over 20,000 cherry branches and trees as well as Hanoi typical flowers; a space for Japanese culture; and a space for Japanese and Hanoi traditional art and food.

To promote the Vietnamese capital’s culture and tourism, the city will continue to organize street festivals honoring its intangible values and food./.
