During the reception, Secretary Chu said that the province had received US assistance in 25 projects on healthcare, education, natural disaster prevention, and coping with climate change, using over USD10 billion.

He added that the programs have helped promote the province’s socio-economic development, and acted as a bridge to help people to understand more about the US and vice versa.

He gave the US Consul General an overall introduction about the province’s potential and strengths, as well as FDI projects in the province. So far, Quang Ngai province has attracted 40 FDI projects with a total capital of some USD1 billion, and the investors mainly come from the Republic of Korea, Japan and Singapore, with no US investors coming to the province.

Therefore, Secretary Chu said he hoped the US Consul General as well as the US Ambassador to Vietnam would create favourable conditions for Quang Ngai province to introduce its potential and advantages to US investors and encourage them to invest in the province to create jobs and increase income for local residents.

According to Secretary Chu, Quang Ngai hoped to welcome investors to oil and petrochemical refinery, electronics, tourism, hi-tech agriculture, fisheries processing, and especially maritime transport and aviation. He also pledged to create every favourable condition for investors.

Ms Mary Tarnowka introduced some educational information that the US is implementing in Vietnam.

According to Ms Mary Tarnowka, in the upcoming time, the US Consulate in Ho Chi Minh city will organize a program gathering US investors to promote investment in clean energy and smart infrastructure. She suggested that Quang Ngai should send representatives to the program for promoting the image of the province and gaining experience with US investors./.
