One hundred percent of delegates during an unusual meeting of the Quang Tri provincial People’s Council on September 12th voted to name the park in central Dong Ha city as Fidel park.

It aimed to mark the 45
th year since Cuban leader Fidel Castro, a close brother of the Vietnamese Party, State and people, became the only foreign head of state passing over the 17th parallel to visit a liberated region in Quang Tri province, contributing to show the affection of the province’s residents to Fidel, and increasing the friendly relationship between Vietnam and Cuba.
The park campus includes the tree system, square, lake, management zone, creature exhibition zone, recreation area and sports space, serving the recreation demand of local residents and tourists.
It overs an area of over 16 hectares of land, using a total capital of nearly VND138 billion./.
