Road connecting Vietnam - Cambodia inaugurated

The road connecting Vietnam’s Central Highlands province of Gia Lai and Cambodia’s Ratanakiri province opened to traffic at the Le Thanh (Vietnam) - Oyadav (Cambodia) international border gate on July 19th.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung praised the efforts of the Vietnamese and Cambodian Ministries of Transport, and the authorities of Vietnam’s Gia Lai province and Cambodia’s Ratanakiri province, as well as related agencies.

According to the Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister, the road aims to facilitate transport for trade, contributing to reducing transport fees, promoting the development of economics, society, tourism and every area of people’s life.

The inauguration of the road opens up a new period of socio-economic development and cultural exchange between the two countries, with an aim to build up peaceful and cooperative border areas, and reinforce the solidarity between Vietnam and Cambodia.

Mr Dung suggested the two States continue to strictly work together to create favorable conditions for people and vehicles crossing the border, ensuring transport security, further boosting the friendly and cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia.

The inauguration of the road belongs to the Road Transportation Agreement between the two countries, which allows 500 vehicles travelling through their seven pairs of international border gates, including the Le Thanh - Oyadav border gates./.
