Russian Federation’s National Day marked in Ho Chi Minh city

The Russian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh city on June 8th held a ceremony to mark the 27th National Day of the Russian Federation (June 12th).

Addressing the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh city People’s Committee Huynh Cach Mang said that since the Vietnam - Russia relationship was heightened to the comprehensive partnership in 2012, the cooperation between the two countries has developed more strongly, creating favourable conditions for promoting the relations between Ho Chi Minh city and Russian localities.

So far Ho Chi Minh city has set up friendly and cooperative relationship with several Russian cities and provinces.

The cooperation focuses on economics, environment, water management, education and training, science, culture and tourism. According to Vice Chairman Mang, Ho Chi Minh city is working closely with the Russian Embassy and Consulate General to carry out bilateral cooperative programs and projects to continue the good traditional relationship between the two countries.

Mr. Popov Alekey Vladimirovich, Russian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh city, showed his happiness for the affection for Russia of the Vietnamese authority and people in general and of Ho Chi Minh city in particular.

He added that the visits by high-ranking leaders between the two countries proved the good relationship between the two countries, showing his belief that the visit to Russia by State President Tran Dai Quang, which is scheduled in late June, will help further reinforce the Vietnam - Russia comprehensive strategic partnership and promise cooperation in new areas.

In 2016, the import turnover between Russia and Ho Chi Minh city reached over USD146 million, a year-on-year increase of 58%./.
