The workshop, which aims to promote business opportunities between Vietnamese and Catalonia regional Barcelona Port businesses, was held on the occasion of nearly 60 Spanish businesses, led by Damia Calvet I Valera, Minister of Territory and Sustainability of Catalonia, and Mercè Conesa, President of the Port of Barcelona, visiting Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city for trade promotion activities from November 9th-17th. The event marks the 20th trade promotion program organized by Barcelona Port Authority in countries which are considered target markets.

Vietnam and Spain have set up traditional and cooperative relationship in many areas. After over 40 years of diplomatic relations, the two countries have signed diverse cooperative agreements and deals. At present, Vietnam is Spain’s main trade partner in ASEAN, with two-way trade turnover increasing by 15% per year on average. However, the figure does not match the trade potential.

According to VCCI, Spanish investors are experienced in alternative energy, infrastructure, tourism, construction and architecture. Meanwhile, Vietnam’s reform of legal documents will reinforce Spanish partners’ trust in its market.

During the workshop, businesses discussed cooperation potential and opportunities; and signed cooperative deals in different areas./.
