UK Queen’s birthday celebrated in Ho Chi Minh city

The Ho Chi Minh city Union of Friendship Organizations and the city Vietnam - United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UK) Friendship Association on June 13th celebrated the 91st birthday and the Sapphire Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, marking 65 years of her reign.

Addressing the ceremony, Tran Hung Viet, President of the Ho Chi Minh city Vietnam - UK Friendship Association, confirmed that Vietnam - UK relations had developed more and more strongly, especially after Vietnam and the UK signed the strategic partnership agreement in 2010.

At present, the UK ranks 12th among 86 countries and territories investing in Ho Chi Minh city. It is also the city’s biggest trade partner with two-way trade turnover of USD826 million in 2016.

Last year, 122,000 British visitors came to Ho Chi Minh city, ranking 11th among countries and territories that have tourists to the city. There are currently some 11,000 Vietnamese students in the UK.

Mr. Ian Gibbons, General Consul of the UK in Ho Chi Minh city, showed his happiness about the increasingly expanded relationship in diverse areas./.
