UK willing to support Ho Chi Minh city’s hi-tech agriculture

Tran Vinh Tuyen, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh city People’s Committee, on October 4th received Ed Vaizey, the UK Prime Minister's Trade Envoy to Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, for seeking ways to increase investment and trade cooperation between the two sides.

Appreciating the active relationship between Vietnam and the UK in diverse areas, especially in exchanging high ranking delegations, Mr. Tuyen said that it is Ho Chi Minh city’s honour to become a destination for the two countries’ cooperative events and programs.

He also spoke highly of the UK assistance to the city’s development, confirming that the city hoped to have more cooperative activities with the UK, especially in hi-tech agriculture, smart city building, education and training, for the benefit of both sides.

Conveying his condolences on the passing of State President Tran Dai Quang and former Party General Secretary Do Muoi, Mr. Ed Vaizey thanked Ho Chi Minh city for making favourable conditions for the British Council’s effective operation; expressed his satisfaction over the cooperation among British and Vietnamese businesses; and confirmed that the UK is willing to support the city in developing hi-tech agriculture and smart city.   

“British businesses care about supporting the city in dealing with water sewerage, urban traffic systems and the expansion of airport,” he added./.
