US enterprises hope to join building Ho Chi Minh into smart city

Nguyen Thanh Phong, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh city People’s Committee, on January 10th worked with Ms Mary Tarnowka, Consul General of the United States of America in Ho Chi Minh city, together with some American groups and businesses to talk about cooperation in building it into a smart city.

According to Chairman Phong, Ho Chi Minh city is focusing on carrying out a project to build the city into a smart one, placing people in the central place, and promptly turning it into a financial, commercial, scientific and technological centre of the region.

He stressed that the project had been studied thoroughly, with the initial issues to be focused on being traffic, healthcare, the building of electronic authority, and the ensuring of security and social safety.

Appreciating the experience and ability of American businesses in building smart cities, Chairman Phong confirmed that American businesses and the city held great potential for cooperation.

The city pledged to support American business to participate in building Ho Chi Minh city into a smart one.

According to Ms Mary Tarnowka, American businesses attending the meeting are groups and companies experienced in building smart cities in the US and in many countries all over the world.

American businesses expressed their hope to study information and cooperation mechanisms to join the project, in order to select the best technological solutions to apply in the project.

She showed her belief that American businesses, together with Vietnamese talents, would help Ho Chi Minh become a smart city and the most worth living city of the world.

During the meeting, Chairman Phong and representatives from relevant agencies shared their concerns about addressing traffic congestion, building a smarter urban traffic system and applying technology into protecting security and social order./.
