Vietnam army soldiers support Laos dam collapse recovery

In realization of the Prime Minister’s direction, the Ministry of National Defence has carried out activities in support of Laos in overcoming the consequences of the collapse of the Xe Pian-Xe Nam Noy hydropower dam in Attapeu province on July 23rd, the Office of the National Committee on Response to Incident, Natural Disaster and Search and Rescue has reported.

Accordingly, the High Command of Military Zone 5 has deployed nearly 1,000 cadres and soldiers; 26 cars, ambulances, boats, military medical officers and surgical team; nearly 600 life jackets, tents and pushers; and 9 tons of dry provisions to assist Laos in coping with the consequences of the incident.

As of 16h00 on July 25th, 140 officers and 9 vehicles were directly assisting Laos.

Meanwhile, in Military Zone 5 the army corps 15 has given assistance worth VND260 million and LAK10 million, together with medicine sufficient to save 500 people in flooded areas./.
