The NPA has set up strict cooperation with the Australian Embassy in Vietnam since 1995 in terms of education, human rights, leadership science, public policy and gender studies. Since 2017, the Center for Gender and Women's Leadership (GELEAD) under the NPA, established by the Australian program with Vietnam in developing human resources, has been carried out and gained diverse effective activities. Through the program, the leadership ability of female cadres in the Vietnamese political system has been increased.

They have also helped to increase leaders’ awareness on gender equality, making important contributions to realizing the Politburo resolution on women working in national industrialization and modernization, as well as the national strategy on gender equality in the 2011-2020 period and the gender equality law in Vietnam.

Additionally, the NPA has also signed a MoU with the Australian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) term 2019-2022 on bringing human rights education into the national educational system.

Addressing the MoU signing ceremony, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, NPA Director, expressed his belief that the cooperation between the NPA and Australian partners would be expanded and developed, and that the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Australia would be increased, contributing to promoting peace, security and prosperity in the two countries, region and the world.

According to Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Craig Chittick, over the past 3 years of cooperation between the Australian Government and the NPA, diverse activities in gender equality, education in human rights and training of cadres show the trust between the two sides.

He added that the Australian Government always welcomes Vietnam’s initiatives and commits to share its skills, knowledge and experience; and attaches importance to cooperating with Vietnam through academies and institutes.

Stressing that the MoU signed between the NPA and the Australian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade will open up a new page in the relationship between the two sides, Ambassador Craig Chittick said that Australia’s sending of senior experts to Vietnam and training of Vietnamese senior cadres will make contributions to its socio-economic development in the future./.
