The Kien Giang University on April 8th signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperating in training and research with Phnom Penh Royal University and Chea Sim Kamchaymear University in Cambodia.

Under deal signed in 2018, Kien Giang University received 53 Cambodian students from Phnom Penh Royal University and Chea Sim Kamchaymear University within 2 years. Apart from joining training in agriculture, biology and information technology, Cambodian students participated in cultural and sports exchanges, which helped them practice the Vietnamese language and better integrate into Vietnamese society.
Praising the efficiency of the cooperation, Rector of the Phnom Penh Royal University, Chet Chealy, confirmed that the cooperation not only brought benefits for the universities, but also promoted the friendly relationship between the two countries.
According to Mr. Chet Chealy, the Phnom Penh Royal University’s students will have more chance for scholarships in Vietnam, and lecturers for professional exchange with Vietnam’s leading universities.
Positive results in the cooperation in 2018 promoted the signing of a new MoU in 2019. Accordingly, in the 2019-2020 school-year, Kien Giang University agreed to provide scholarships to 40 Cambodian students from Phnom Penh Royal University and Chea Sim Kamchaymear University in 10 majors. Students will be supported with all schooling fees, materials, housing and a part of daily expenses.
Additionally, universities have committed to promote scientific research, including research and preservation of agricultural seedlings, application of high technology in producing short-term vegetables and fruits, and an increase in scientific research result exchanges./.
