During the signing ceremony, MOLISA Minister Dao Ngoc Dung appreciated the diplomatic relations and cooperative activities between Vietnam and Cambodia in general, and in labour in particular, through bilateral cooperation between the two ministries and multilateral cooperation at regional and international forums.

Minister Dung appreciated the MoLVT for making favourable conditions for Vietnamese labourers working in Cambodia, adding that the Government of Vietnam and his ministry always encouraged localities bordering Cambodia to increase cooperative activities in the management of migrant labourers, poverty reduction, vocational training and the provision of healthcare for the poor.

MoLVT Minister Ith Samheng recognized Minister Dung’s suggestions on asking relevant agencies to give care and support to Vietnamese labourers in Cambodia, especially those in border areas.

Under the MoU, the two sides will increase cooperation and the sharing of experience, as well as research coordination in employment and vocational training, law compliance and enforcement, social insurance, labour protection and work safety.

In particular, the MoU agreed with the cooperation in the management of migrant labourers, making better conditions for labourers in border areas to complete legal documents in accordance with legal regulations, and for those who are granted legal documents to continue to live and work legally.

The signing of the MoU contributes to promoting Vietnam – Cambodia ties when the countries are celebrating the 50th year of the establishment of diplomatic relations (June 24th)./.
