Vietnam, Cambodia reinforce solidarity for cooperation and development

In realization of the cooperative relationship set up by the Vietnamese and Cambodian Government, Vietnam’s southern province of Kien Giang has increased strict cooperative activities with diverse Cambodian localities.

According to leaders of the provincial Party Committee, the province has attached great importance to developing friendly and comprehensive cooperative relationship with Cambodian provinces and cities, especially bordering ones, in order to build up a peaceful border line to serve socio-economic development and protect border security.

According to Van Cong Dau, Director of the provincial Department of Foreign Affairs, Ha Tien city and Giang Thanh district have maintained close relationship, solidarity and respect with Cambodian border localities by regularly exchanging relevant information, signing cooperative deals among Vietnamese border communes and Cambodian ones, for supporting each other in daily life, maintaining security, and fostering the traditional relationship between the two countries.

Meanwhile, the Kien Giang Fatherland Front has worked with the Cambodian United Front for National Salvation to encourage people to develop a peaceful and friendly border line, for long-term stability and comprehensive cooperation. Cultural and sports events have been organized, while dissemination of laws, especially sea laws, have been carried out so that fishermen are not in violation during fishing.

Kien Giang province’s Ha Tien city and Giang Thanh district, together with Kampot province’s Kompongtrach and Bontimia districts, have signed a cooperative program on friendship activities, setting up relationships among 6 pairs of residential areas on social welfare, cultural exchange and the struggle against activities destroying border security.

In the cooperative deal for 2015-2020 between the provincial Women’s Union and the Cambodian Women’s Union for Peace and Development in Kampot, Kep and Preah Sihanouk provinces, the two sides pledged to exchange experience in healthcare, prevention of social problems, and poverty reduction.

Together with it, the provincial Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union has maintained the traditional relationship with youngsters in Kampot, Kep, Preah Sihanouk and Koh Kong provinces, assisting the two sides’ youth in having deeper knowledge about the two countries’ treaties, carrying out cultural and sports activities, giving presents to beneficiaries’ families, caring for orphans and HIV-infected people, and providing free health check-ups and medicine to poor border residents./.
