Vietnam, Canada deepen relationship

From November 26th-28th, a delegation from the Communist Party of Vietnam led by Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC Commission on Mass Mobilization Truong Thi Mai paid a working visit to Canada.

Meeting with Vice President of the Canadian Lower House Bruce Stanton on November 26th, Ms Mai expressed her hope to continue to promote and deepen the bilateral relationship, introduce proposals on new investment initiatives to take advantage of the two countries’ adoption of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), as well as cooperation in different areas such as education and training, tourism and healthcare.

Vietnam and Canada continue to support each other at multi-lateral forums, including Vietnam’s candidacy for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for 2020-2021 and Canada’s candidacy for membership in the UNSC for 2021-2022.

Welcoming the Vietnamese delegation, Mr. Bruce Stanton appreciated its proposals on cooperation in legislation and supervision of the National Assembly, economics, trade, security and external relations.

During the visit to Canada, the delegation held talks with the Communist Party of Canada Marxist–Leninist, the Universities of McGill and Quebec, and representatives of overseas Vietnamese in Canada./.
