Vietnam - Cuba relationship more and more developed and deepened

A talk between the two sides was held on July 8th to seek solutions to continue to increase the bilateral relationship and discuss regional and international issues.

Expressing her thanks to Cuban leaders and people, as well as first Vice President of the Councils of State and Ministers of Cuba for the respectful and warm reception for the Vietnamese State delegation, Ms Thinh congratulated Cuba for adopting the new Constitution on April 10th, confirming that Vietnam is ready to continue to exchange and share experiences with Cuba in its national protection and development.

She added that Vietnam always remembers and appreciates Cuba’s pure solidarity, generous support and precicous assistance for Vietnam, stressing that the Vietnamese Party, State and people are always supportive of the Cuban Revolution, and reaffirming that Vietnam strongly supported the resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly to demand that the US end its policy of economic, commercial and financial embargo against Cuba.

First Vice President of the Councils of State and Ministers of Cuba Salvador Valdés Mesa warmly welcomed Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh’s first official visit to Cuba, which he said would help strengthen the solidarity, cooperation and mutual trust between the two countries, confirming that Cuba respects Vietnam's solidarity and supports the Cuban Revolutionary, especially in the current important period when Cuba is making efforts to implement the 7th National Communist Party Congress guidelines and carry out the new Constitution.

He also congratulated Vietnam on its recent socio-economic and external achievements, especially Vietnam’s non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council term 2020-2021.

The two leaders agreed to assess the relationship between the two countries that has entered a new development stage and become deeper. They also agreed to seriously implement the agreements reached during the visit to Cuba by Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in March 2018 and Cuban President Miguel Diáz-Canel Bermúdez's visit to Vietnam in November 2018. Accordingly, the two sides reguarly  exchange delegations, and pay special attention to boosting bilateral economic and trade cooperation, and efficiently carry out projects in agriculture, pharmaceuticals, construction, information and communications, education and training.

The two parties also agreed to improve the effectiveness of the cooperation mechanisms, promptly puting the Vietnam-Cuba Trade Agreement into effect. Measures to encourage investment activities of businesses from both sides were also discussed.

The two sides highly appreciated the two countries efforts to maintain close cooperation and support of each other at international organizations and multilateral forums, especially at the UN, to protect legitimate interests and enhance their prestige and position, while contributing to the common struggle for peace, stability and cooperation in the two regions and the world.

Regarding the East Sea issue, the leaders affirmed their support for resolving disputes by peaceful measures in respect of international law by strictly obeying the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC), towards completing the Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC)./.
