Vietnam, Laos foster special relationship

On behalf of the Lao Party, State, National Assembly, Government and Front for National Construction, as well as the Lao people, Mr. Saysomphone Phomvihane expressed the deep condolences to the Vietnamese Party, State and people for former Prime Minister Phan Van Khai’s passing away.

Sharing about the cooperative relationship between the two countries, he showed his pleasure with the increasingly developed relationship between Laos and Vietnam, especially in 2017 when the two countries marked the 55th founding anniversary of the diplomatic ties and 40 years since the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Amity and Cooperation Treaty.

There have been regular visits by high-ranking delegations from Ho Chi Minh city to Lao localities. Most recently was the visit to Laos by Chairperson of the city Fatherland Front, during which activities of great significance, including visiting and giving presents to Lao residents living in remote areas, were carried out, showing the close affection between the two peoples.

Saying that he believed the special, friendly and cooperative relationship between the two countries would be reinforced and promoted in the future, Mr. Saysomphone Phomvihane urged Ho Chi Minh city to continue to enhance cooperation with Lao localities in realizing joint programs and targets which were set by the two Governments.

For his part, Mr. Nhan expressed his deep thanks to the Lao Party, State, National Assembly, Front for National Construction and people for their condolences on the passing of former Prime Minister Phan Van Khai.

Sharing some important orientations for the development of the city, Mr. Nhan said that together with solutions to realize 7 breakthrough programs, the city had recently carried out the programs on building the city into a smart city and on implementing the National Assembly’s resolutions on special mechanisms and policies for the development of the city.

Accordingly, the city is attracting experts and scientists in the development of different areas, and increasing some fees for environment and traffic in order to develop a better living environment.

He confirmed that Ho Chi Minh city always attached great importance to promoting cooperative and friendly relationships with Lao localities. “Central and city leaders will make efforts to maintain and foster the Vietnam - Laos special and friendly relationship, for the development of the two countries.”/.
