Vietnam People’s Army officers presented with Lao medals

A ceremony was held on September 6th to present the medals of the Lao State and Defence Ministry to 69 collectives and 22 individuals from the Vietnam People’s Army.

They are the ones who had made important contribution to reinforcing and increasing the traditional relationship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two armies.

Over the past years, the two armies and peoples have given mutual support in all areas. In particular, in the Vietnam - Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year 2017, the two armies organized diverse activities to mark the 55th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties and the 40th year of the Vietnam - Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation, contributing to educating the younger generation about the traditional solidarity, friendship and cooperation.

Additionally, defence cooperation has continued to be reinforced, being an important pillar in the two countries’ special solidarity, which helps maintain the peaceful environment and political and social solidarity; and defeat any plot to separate the traditional friendship and special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.

Addressing the ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Chansamone Chanyalath, Lao Minister of Defence, appreciated the effective cooperation from the units of the Vietnam People’s Army, confirming the Lao People’s Army had always had clear awareness that Laos’ success in the national resistance war as well as in the current national construction and protection mark the effective assistance from the Vietnam People’s Army.

He expressed his hope that continued coordination between the two armies would contribute to deepening the sustainable relationship between Vietnam and Laos./.
