Vietnam presents medical equipment to China

Vietnam has presented medical equipment worth USD500,000 to China to help this country combat the acute respiratory disease caused by the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV).

The breathing equipment, clean-room suits, gloves and face masks were presented during a ceremony on February 9th at the Noi Bai International Airport.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs To Anh Dung said that they are Vietnam’s best medical equipment at present, being provided for China in the context that Vietnam also needs them for fighting the disease. “We hope the equipment will contribute to support Chinese people overcome the current difficult situation,” he said. 

He also confirmed that Vietnam is carrying out drastic measures to prevent the disease spreading and to protect people’s health, while closely working with and sharing experience and study results with the World Health Organization (WHO) and countries, promoting the joint efforts of ASEAN as ASEAN Chair 2020, and standing side by side with China and other countries in the fight against the disease. 

Expressing his thanks for Vietnam’s assistance, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Xiong Bo asserted that the equipment is a significant encouragement for Chinese people. 

He stressed that they would be immediately transported to China’s Wuhan outbreak.

The Vietnam Red Cross has also encouraged organizations and individuals to donate medical equipment worth USD100,000 to assist China./.
