So confirmed 12th PCC member and Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung during his reception for a working delegation from the Philippine Airlines on January 30th on the occasion of the Philippine Airlines’ debut of a direct flight between Hanoi and Manila from April 1st.

According to the Philippine Airlines’ Sales Department Deputy Head Ryan Uy, operating in the Vietnamese market over the past 34 years, the airlines hoped for stronger trade ties and exchanges between the two countries by opening the Hanoi - Manila direct flight.

With a 98-plane team and working with many world partners, the airlines wanted to promote the image of Hanoi and Vietnam globally.

“The number of the Philippines' tourists to Vietnam sharply increased by some 13% in 2018 and the direct flight will increase opportunities for Vietnamese people to come to Manila,” said Mr. Ryan Uy.

Showing his pleasure with the direct flight, Chairman Chung said that the event will not only promote tourism exchange, but also boost cooperation between the two sides.

“As Hanoi will host diverse large international events such as the Formula One race in 2020 and SEAGames in 2021, the direct flight will be a very favorable condition for the Philippines’ tourists to visit Hanoi, thus reinforcing the friendship between Hanoi and Manila in particular and Vietnam and the Philippines in general,” he stressed./.
