Talking with the press at a conference on December 27th, Major General Nguyen Xuan Kien, head of the Military Medicine Department under the General Department of Logistics, said the results were brought about by thorough preparations in training of personnel, equipment, and experience.

According to Mr. Kien, on November 26th, Mr. Jean Pierre Lacroix, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, in a letter sent to Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the United Nations, appreciated and expressed deep thanks to the Vietnamese Government in successfully and rapidly deploying the level 2 field hospital in South Sudan.

Apart from the first level 2 field hospital in South Sudan, the Vietnamese army has established the second managed by the Vietnam Military Medical Hospital, willing to replace the first one at any time.

Before being sent to the UN mission, the soldiers were trained with international legal documents, local residents’ practices and customs, and important international technologies as regulated to field hospitals.

They are also provided with information about the cultural and medical environment at the location of the field hospital; the diseases, especially infectious ones. Meanwhile, they always raise the spirit to overcome any difficulties and heighten the image of Vietnamese military soldiers at the UN./.
