Vietnam, Slovakia increases cooperation in crime prevention

A Vietnamese delegation led by Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Politburo member and Minister of Public Security, paid a working visit to the Republic of Slovakia at the invitation of Slovak Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Robert Kalinak.

On March 6th (local time), Minister To Lam and the Vietnamese delegation greeted Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico and signed a deal on crime prevention cooperation between the Vietnamese Public Security Minister and the Slovak Ministry of Interior.

During the reception, Prime Minister Robert Fico appreciated Vietnam’s achievements in all areas, including politics, defence, security, economics, trade, investment, culture and education, showing his hope that security cooperation would continue to be one of the effective and important cooperative areas in the traditional friendship and cooperation between Slovakia and Vietnam.

The Slovak Prime Minister sent regards to Vietnamese Party and Government leaders, adding that he hoped to welcome Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s official visit to Slovakia this year.

For his part, Minister To Lam spoke highly of the great achievements that the Slovak Government and people had gained during its national integration and development, saying that the Vietnamese Government and people always remembered the support and assistance from the Slovak Government and people during its struggle for national liberation and reunification earlier, as well as the current construction and development. He also expressed his pleasure with the increasingly developed relationship between Vietnam and Slovakia.

He showed his desire that Prime Minister Robert Fico would continue to make favourable conditions for Slovak law enforcement agencies and the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security to cooperate more strictly and effectively in preventing crime, thus ensuring security and order in each country, and contributing to further developing the traditional friendship and relationship between the two countries.

On the same day, Minister To Lam and Slovak Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Robert Kalinak signed a deal on cooperation in crime prevention.

Earlier, the two agencies focused on exchanging information about crime-fighting operations, stressed the importance of working together in preventing, struggling against, investigating and pursuing criminals relating to the two countries’ citizens, especially organized and trans-national criminals, international terrorists, human trafficking, illegal immigration, drug criminals and those using high technology./.
